What is the Emory ECG Training Site?

In the medical field, clinicians, house staff, and medical students are required to have a certain set of knowledge and skill sets that allow them to understand and interpret electrocardiograms (ECGs). However, ECG literacy is currently limited by classroom materials and other forms of written text. This website aims to provide the medical community with the opportunity to interpret ECGs in specific contexts. Emory's ECG Training Site provides a more interactive form of studying that is well adapted to varying ECGs that are encountered in the field on a day-to-day basis.

ECG Diagnosis Categories

Browse through different cases and look at ECGs based on a certain diagnosis. For each case, there is a description of an anonymous patient, an ECG, key findings/coding for the boards, and a set of questions to test your ability to interpret the ECG.

ECG Training Curriculum (Emory IM Residents)

ECG Interpretation

As ECG interpretation is a fundamental practical skill, we recommend that you practice reading 12-lead ECGs systematically on a regular basis, on every patient. During your Hurst/Midtown Cardiology rotation, you will work on refining this skill through a dedicated curriculum focused on developing a systematic approach.

The Hurst Cardiology ECG Curriculum employs a video series, an interactive website of example cases, and biweekly morning reports to ensure you are learning a systematic approach to ECG interpretation and progressing toward proficiency. The online resources are accessible on desktop computers and mobile devices. Each intern will view the video curriculum based on the below schedule, along with cases from the Emory ECG website, to prepare for discussion in the Hurst Morning Report.

We encourage you to view these videos before, during, and after your Cardiology rotation to continue to refresh and advance your skills.

Trello free download for mac. Hurst Morning Report will be facilitated on a biweekly basis by Drs. Morris, Williams, and Wells at Emory University Hospital and Emory University Hospital Midtown. During these sessions, you will have the opportunity to discuss any questions about the week’s curriculum topics and to review the website cases and present your patients and their ECGs for discussion.

You will be tested for proficiency at the end of Hurst Cardiology and again at the end of your intern year. If you do not meet the criteria for passing, you will be scheduled for a meeting to review your test results and receive additional guidance. Afterward, you will be required to interpret five additional ECGs each week for faculty review until you have reached proficiency.
